In the last session Hu mentioned looking at urban landscapes/cityscapes in an abstract way as you will see from his posts on the blog and the video he has produced it creates a deeper understanding to what is trying to be said within his work in relation to the character within the animation created which can also be related to the viewer of the exhibition since when looking at something abstract it creates a sense of curiosity.
Below I have included some of my images in relation to an urban landscape which I think would be great to use as a background with the animation being within the foreground. I also believe that since Leanne works with film a recording of an urban landscape transitioning into a motionless image whilst the motion of the animation is within the foreground could relate to the sense of abstract mentality of how we may see and adapt to an urban landscape.
Original Images
Edited Black & White Abstract Style Images
As you can see below the images which I took above have been edited to almost look as if they are shapes rather than something structural such as a standard photograph like the ones above. This was done to create a sense of illusion since abstract does relate to what's in your mind certain shapes and forms created within your mind can become anything you want it to become.
For this particular Image only half of it was edited since I wanted to show the relation between something which looks or may seem real against something which you may see as an idea of a specific drawing which also relates to the animation side of Hu's work since a drawing is created within the mind and may not look exactly the same as the real thing would where as a picture does this much better even though it is also not exactly how the real view may be its still closer to the real thing.
Colour Experimentation
Below I have added certain colours to the images which were edited above since I believe this gives the image a more abstract like sense and since what Hu has been working on seems very colourful I believe these images as backgrounds could be of good use in relation to it all.
Huseyin Hamit
These images are really good, I feel the colour pictures work better in relation to Hu's work as I feel it goes back to the sense of emotion. I think we should stick with block colours, making them sharp and bold.
