As we have changed locations, we were talking about drawing some shapes in the white space between the two projections. I found these images online which I thought were pretty cool. If Hu could draw something like this, I think it will look really great, especially something like a skyline of an urban landscape with a bird flying across it. Moreover, I think it will link the two projections together even better.

Change of plan
After weeks of preparations, we had a major set back; we couldn't use the little darkroom to show our projection. The reason was that as there were only 3 groups doing this exhibition, so we needed to fill the exhibition space as best as we could. At first, I was pretty annoyed as we spent all our time in the darkroom seeing what would be the best for our projections. However, now thinking about it, I think it could work to our advantage.
Our new space is now at the front of the art gallery, at the first we wasn't happy as it looked too bright; however, Ian showed us some previous work and the projections seemed to work really well. But another thing that put us off was the fact we wanted two 90 degree angled corners which this space did not have! We tried to fight for the darkroom but we lost so after a lot of discussing and working out; we decided on putting up an extra piece of board so we could get matching corners. There not 90 degree corners but with this way, we actually make the projection bend in 3 places which could look better than 2. We were still worried about the light but hopefully we are planning to put a piece of black material across the top to make it darker.
I know this isn't what we wanted or planned, but I think we came together as a group and did our best to work things out, with the problems that occurred. Anything, think of it like this….we'll be the first and last projection that people see :)

Bringing it all together
After looking at the animation and photos made by the boys, I was really inspired to add something in film format. As we want two projection, we decided to have the animation/photographs on one side and a video on the other.
I made a short video of an urban landscape panning across the skyline, however, when I saw the other projection, I felt they didn't really fit together. Even though we want to show one side of urban landscape (animation) as very abstract and the other projection as more calmer, I felt the were too different. So I done some research and came across this really cool video. This video came from a man called called Patrick Murphy who made installation pieces using the theme of pigeons.

I feel that pigeons are iconic to an urban landscape and this video can be seen as quite abstract and quirky; with the use of bright colours and the fact the pigeons are not real. This gave me idea for my video and I feel it will compliment the other projection in the theme of abstract.
I went to local town and videoed some pigeons, I was quite lucky when filming as one pigeon flew in which I felt made the video stronger. So as my idea I want to project this video on a pile of rubbish (maybe newspaper). I feel this could work as we associate pigeons being dirty and always arounds bins and rubbish. Moreover, the video will still be calmer than the animation but they will link with abstract styling; so we will have two different types of emotion showing in the projections.

Exhibition theory guide
I found something useful in last week's speech. It may be relevant to the reflection of the audience. the exbition maybe a big product, the audience is a user, like product design. As the speech says, the user experience is very important in the 21th centery. because the user create the content of media culture, they have been the main role of art show. We are producer ,the audience require our ability and direction. it is a "custerm age". and the exbition contains: 1. phsycal factor 2.computer factor 3.social factor.4.artist factor. The third factor , social factor is more interesting for me,because it requires designer control the live stage, and make sure the audience get the point of the exbition.
and I was attracted by the "simile face" very much. it presents the expressions as signs to delivery the message of the people. it is simple , but still strongly works on humen's mood and emotion. The design shows the good control of "social factor".

all these factor and notice board is useful . The theroies make me to think how to present idea in live exbition, and as an very important guide.

Projection - Ideas & Testing
Huseyin Hamit
We decided to meet as a group and to test some of our idea's in relation to urban landscape we stuck with this theme since we wanted to find out how it could turn out and since the idea's we had were very abstract which was what we directed towards from the start of this project.
We first tested some of the images which I created for the urban landscape I tried making these slightly abstract to relate with the whole theme of being in a particular place mentally which we then tried to relate to the animation Hu created.
Once the tests were done we decided to use different materials such as reflective surfaces and card to create a unique effect rather than the image just being projected onto one surface. When we did this it created an amazing look to the images being projected onto the card since the distance of the cards varied from the wall to the projector the light was much sharper and stronger. From using this idea and experimenting with it placing the card in front of the projector created dark area's on the wall of where the card was placed which we did not like to much. I came up with the idea of cutting out silhouette shapes of people and placing these in front of the projector instead of just standard card and discussed this with Hu which he thought was great. Hu drew and cut the shape we then tested it and we agreed that it created a much more pleasing result due to the silhouette relating to a person being within the urban landscape.
Below are a series of images and a video to what we have been testing.

We found this image online and sketched around it whilst it was projected onto card

Egg test - Images

Below I have attached a few images in relation to the egg test that we did within our group. Hu was the thrower of the egg within the protected materials.
For more information on how the egg was secured in place be sure to look back at Leanne's post relating to Belbins theory and the egg test.

Egg wrapped in a protective surface before the throw out of the window
Hu preparing for the throw of the egg
After the throw of the egg out of the window checking to see if the egg was broken
Result of what happened to the protective surface
One of our balloons popped which was because of the impact of the fall which also saved the egg from breaking since we arranged the protective layers and balloons to hit the ground on first contact which took most of the impact rather than the egg taking the impact.
Final outcome - Perfect egg which did not break!

Belbin Test Result

As Leanne has stated in the previous post we looked at Belbin and his theory within a group. For me the main and strongest area's were Resource Investigator and Teamworker we also decided that as a group our weakest area's were Monitor Evaluator and Implementer.
Below you will see an example of the documents which I have scanned in relation to the strongest area's for me and the amount of points each section added up to. Please click image for a larger view
