After weeks of preparations, we had a major set back; we couldn't use the little darkroom to show our projection. The reason was that as there were only 3 groups doing this exhibition, so we needed to fill the exhibition space as best as we could. At first, I was pretty annoyed as we spent all our time in the darkroom seeing what would be the best for our projections. However, now thinking about it, I think it could work to our advantage.
Our new space is now at the front of the art gallery, at the first we wasn't happy as it looked too bright; however, Ian showed us some previous work and the projections seemed to work really well. But another thing that put us off was the fact we wanted two 90 degree angled corners which this space did not have! We tried to fight for the darkroom but we lost so after a lot of discussing and working out; we decided on putting up an extra piece of board so we could get matching corners. There not 90 degree corners but with this way, we actually make the projection bend in 3 places which could look better than 2. We were still worried about the light but hopefully we are planning to put a piece of black material across the top to make it darker.
I know this isn't what we wanted or planned, but I think we came together as a group and did our best to work things out, with the problems that occurred. Anything, think of it like this….we'll be the first and last projection that people see :)
