The longest day.

The BLUE group ' plan changed while the conditions changed. Plan A: use the tiny dark room as a space which full of mysterious atmosphere . It can help our project to present the atmosphere of urban space.
We tested for three times to check how the shape of shadow looks like, it perfectly works, and the effect which we all satisfied.
PLAN B: when the condition changes, we had to move to the front place of the gallery. We quickly come up with the ideas. We can do some city shapes or subject shape as a mask on the top of the video.
Plan C: finally, we decide to use the two corners, but we just have one corner, another one is empty. We decide to build a wood to cover it. But the materials were hard to get and cut. With EARN's help, we finally find the wood pieces. And it was really heavy. Ok.
and we ask the fashion design student for helping us to mix the two pieces of cloth. They are really professional. Thanks very much.

after cover the coner, we discuss the cloth problem with tutor.

we figured it out!

Why I called today is " the longest day", because we have done a perfect preparation for the short new media exhibition.

PS. I decided make an documentary . because I got a lot of intense and really good shots today.

Tomorrow night is the night!

So today was our last day before exhibition. We decided to meet again and try and set things up as much as possible. Our biggest task was to make a 'ceiling' with black material; which is hopefully going to produce more shadows so we can get a better projections.

This took up most of our time as we had to measure, then cut and then find somebody to help us sew it together. However, this task is now complete so tomorrow, I feel will go smoother as we just need to put the ceiling then the projections.

Just want to say, it's been a few good weeks, we have all worked hard and I'm sure we will sure that in our projections. Tomorrow will go smoothly and the exhibition will go great! Good luck guys :)

Final CAD Design

Final CAD Design

Hey I have designed a final out look of what our exhibition may look like towards the end and it seems to have turned out really good! :)

I have also included a few things of what we may need and have to do for tomorrow and Tuesday which I have sent to Ian so that he can check it for us also.
we will need to be doing the measurements tomorrow just to make sure and double check everything in the morning then we could get the board cut and put it into the corner like we have discussed last week hopefully if we can get the material tomorrow to then we could get that sorter out also.

If anything else is missing we can discuss it tomorrow lets hope it all goes well!

Music/Sound

Huseyin Hamit

We decided that we may use music or sound in relation to our project since we wanted to create an environmental feel to it we wanted to show the transition of the video from being a normal environment from a video of how it can transform into something completely different using the animation and altered images to relate more to the viewer and what the viewer themselves may think of the images, video, animation and sound all together as one. Since our project is in relation to urban landscapes it was very obvious that we wanted to include an urban sound within our exhibition such as the city workers and cars wizzing and beeping through traffic while many people talking along the city roads.

From this I did some research and found various sounds related to urban landscapes and cut area's within the sounds which I believed to be of most use I ended up with 3 different Sounds which could be used you can hear them in each video below.

I will be asking my group which they believe to be the best and we will go with the majority decision.

Sound 1

Sound 2

Silhouettes - Filling the space continued - Images

Huseyin Hamit

After Leannes find of some great images I decided to look online for other various Silhouette shapes and outlines which we could use to fill the space.

Below are various Images which I found in relation to this to gather ideas so that we can choose which would work best for our exhibition space.

Filling the Space

As we have changed locations, we were talking about drawing some shapes in the white space between the two projections. I found these images online which I thought were pretty cool. If Hu could draw something like this, I think it will look really great, especially something like a skyline of an urban landscape with a bird flying across it. Moreover, I think it will link the two projections together even better.

Change of plan

After weeks of preparations, we had a major set back; we couldn't use the little darkroom to show our projection. The reason was that as there were only 3 groups doing this exhibition, so we needed to fill the exhibition space as best as we could. At first, I was pretty annoyed as we spent all our time in the darkroom seeing what would be the best for our projections. However, now thinking about it, I think it could work to our advantage.

Our new space is now at the front of the art gallery, at the first we wasn't happy as it looked too bright; however, Ian showed us some previous work and the projections seemed to work really well. But another thing that put us off was the fact we wanted two 90 degree angled corners which this space did not have! We tried to fight for the darkroom but we lost so after a lot of discussing and working out; we decided on putting up an extra piece of board so we could get matching corners. There not 90 degree corners but with this way, we actually make the projection bend in 3 places which could look better than 2. We were still worried about the light but hopefully we are planning to put a piece of black material across the top to make it darker.

I know this isn't what we wanted or planned, but I think we came together as a group and did our best to work things out, with the problems that occurred. Anything, think of it like this….we'll be the first and last projection that people see :)
